Of unspoken words
Couched on my fleecy squab, I kept staring at the ceiling
My mind raced back to the days we just knew each other
Waiting for the phone calls & the hours of endless talking
No matter what changed, we never had enough of the other
The door sprang open, he called out to me the way I most adore
With a cheshire smile in no time, I slid off the couch and almost
Threw myself into his arms, like a sailboat hugging the still shore
A beautiful night and a simple dinner, it started off with a toast
It has been a year since we first met, a night etched in my memory
This dinner was just as beautiful as it was then; The doorbell shoved
I woke up, as he minced up lost in thought; the night was still lovely
But little did we see - that courtship should never cease in love.
